Wedding Photographers in Cheltenham
Rose and Grace were chosen for Laura and Paul's big day
Of all the wedding photographers in Cheltenham, I was privileged to be chosen to record the memories for Laura and Paul for their winter wedding at St. Mary's Church, Charlton Kings and celebrated afterwards at The Daffodil Restaurant and Bar in Suffolk Parade.
Laura had already seen my wife, Catherine Young's work for Rose and Grace florists and had booked her for their wedding in December. When she saw my portfolio of work, she loved the personal, informal way that I strive capture all the special moments during the day.
From our discussions, it soon became clear, it was important to Laura and Paul that their photographer was unobtrusive and allowed the day to flow naturally, without any over-formal interruptions to shoot family groups, etc. This suited me exactly!
Early on the wedding morning, as Laura's baby Hope, woke up, she had no idea of what was about to happen on this special day as Catherine helped her to try on her gorgeous hair band of flowers. Her little dress, hanging next to those of her mother's and aunty's, looked so cute! It is nice to think that she will have the photographs that I took of her parents' wedding to look back upon in the years to come.
The Pub and Church
Luckily, there always seems to be a pub near to the church, where the groom and his best man, together with other guests, can hang out before the ceremony. I always love the way that even the most confident grooms show their nervousness even through the most determined of smiles! The big moment is almost upon them!
Laura's Arrival at St. Mary's Church
It was a beautiful winter's day as Laura and her party arrived at the church.
Some informal shots of everyone while they were able to gather their thoughts before the ceremony - that was just moments away!
As always, it was one of the younger members of the group, Henry who managed to break the ice with an innocent comment, that made everyone laugh. From a photographer's point of view (and for the parents), these are the priceless, unplanned moments that have to be captured.
Pausing by the church door, Laura, in a reflective mood, takes a moment to think.
Paul is surrounded by family and friends helping to pass the time before Laura's grand entrance.
Hope, looks up to her mum, still unsure what is happening - but looking absolutely lovely!
He knows that Laura is outside. The moment has arrived!
Laura's Entrance to the church. A key moment, everyone has waited for..
...not least of all, Paul! - as the beautiful December sunshine streams into the church
Positively glowing, Laura looks fabulous as she walks down the aisle.
A beautiful fleeting moment captured as Laura's sister and bridesmaid, Faith, processes to the front of the church with Hope in her arms; with the large church windows, painting a glowing light over the scene.
The exchange of rings... then signing the register
The walk back down the aisle together and then, outside, newly married, into the beautiful sunny day
Little Hope, still not so impressed!
A wedding photographers in Cheltenham's next port of call - The Daffodil
as Laura and Paul found it perfect for their reception plans
Prospective bride and grooms, not to forget wedding photographers in Cheltenham should have known The Daffodil Restaurant and bar, in Suffolk Parade. It used to be an Art Deco cinema and retained many period features, giving it a special ambiance. Laura and Paul found it to be perfect for their very relaxed reception. The Daffodil was licensed for civil ceremonies but unfortunately closed for business in 2016.
Realising how the light was lovely with The Daffodil's window light behind her, I wanted to capture this moment with Laura looking radiant on her wedding day.
Laura and Paul, relaxing at the bar with their best men - before the speeches
The speeches were excellent - and it's hard to take photographs when your laughing so much! Even Hope was getting into the swing of things. (I hope that she didn't understand some of the jokes!)
The speeches over, it was time to relax and have fun!
Pretty soon, it was time for the first dance.
As always, it is up to mum and dad to show the young ones how to party.
Laura and Paul's wedding was a privilege to be at and to take photos that should provide them with memories that last their lifetime. The full set of images in their album have captured the personalities of those family and friends who were there. They also record the moments before the ceremony when Lura and Paul were apart and now can see in the full picture of their day.
The day went so fast, like a blur sometimes, but the memories of the main events and also the smaller, still beautiful moments have been captured forever.
