Looking for a wedding photographer in Worcestershire for their marriage at Dumbleton Hall, I'm pleased to say that, in their case, Russell and Grant chose me!
The wedding itself was a fabulous affair with lots of family and friends to help them enjoy their spectacular arrival and finale.
Russell and Grant live in Worcester and Dumbleton Hall is on the far eastern edge of this irregular bordered county. Recognising that it could take around 3/4 hour to get there by road, they had the spectacular but practical solution to getting there by helicopter. This journey took not more than 15 minutes but it was an experience to last a lifetime - and this was just the start to their day!
The bright December day was very cold with frost all around, but the skies were completely cloudless and it was a most beautiful day and perfect for a helicopter ride to a wedding!
How to impress your friends and family? - Arrive at your wedding by helicopter! - A most impressive way to make an entrance. I was certainly pleased to be their wedding photographer in Worcestershire - in the air or with feet firmly on the ground! The views of the Worcestershire countryside on such a glorious winter's day was amazing. The shadow areas that had not seen the bright sun were still covered in a layer of frost, making a beautiful contrast with the green, sunny areas of the hills around Dumbleton Hall.
With a gay marriage, there are hardly any precedents to follow and (as with any wedding these days, actually) couples can do what they feel is right for them. Russel and Grant walked into the ceremony room at Dumbleton Hall, hand in hand. They have been preceded by their flower girls, dressed in the wedding's festive theme colours of red and green.
With the important ceremony over, Russell and Grant could relax and say hello to everyone, who naturally wanted to give them their warm congratulations. It was also time for a glass of champagne!
Although still quite early in the day, as the low winter sun started to go down, we went for a private stroll in the beautiful grounds of Dumbleton Hall. The frost had never receded from the shady areas and the hotel itself looked magnificent as it glowed in the golden sunlight
As the sun faded away, it was time for the speeches. At these occasions, you never know what the speeches will be like. I have seen very long ones and very funny ones - and most things in between. Grant stunned everyone in the reception hall by deciding to sing his speech! I have to say that it was one of the best that I have heard.
There were lots of thank-yous, complements jokes and confessions - most entertaining!
Cutting the Cake
Next came the cutting of the cake.
Then - the first dance!
I like to use the ambient light to keep the intimate feeling of the room. Using a strong flashgun would have killed the atmosphere.
The Firework Finale
The spectacular method of arrival and the start to Russell and Grant's wedding day was complemented by a most spectacular finale with their colourful firework display. Everyone gathered by the balustrades overlooking the lake and were able to watch a fabulously staged explosion of colour.

The day after the wedding
Many of Russell and Grant's friends and family stayed at Dumbleton Hall overnight. It meant that they could give them a suitably warm send off for their honeymoon in the USA.
